The studio opens its historic space for behind-the-scenes tours, live demos, and a deep dive into the magic of game development
Ubisoft Toronto is excited to kick off its 15th anniversary at Doors Open Toronto, featuring a special exhibition that will give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the development on Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed and more.
The studio, located at 224 Wallace Avenue, will open its doors on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Visitors will have the chance to tour the historic 1922 building, which features a brick-and-beam interior and a distinctive water tower, as well as the Performance Capture Studio – a 12,000 square foot facility that features soaring 30-foot ceilings with towering scaffolding and massive stunt beams.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 15th anniversary at Doors Open Toronto and are proud to have been part of the Ontario video game industry’s growth and success,” said Darryl Long, Managing Director at Ubisoft Toronto. “We’re looking forward to sharing our creative space with the community and can’t wait for them to experience the magic behind our games, brought to life by our talented teams.”
Doors Open Toronto is a free weekend-long celebration of architecture and public space, inviting the public to explore more than 150 sites through the lens of this year’s theme “Play”. From historic theatres and sports clubs to creative studios and community hubs, the 2025 edition of Doors Open encourages people of all ages to discover Toronto as a vibrant playground of inspiration, expression and connection.
At the MaRS Discovery District, Narrative Director Navid Khavari will also be participating in a Doors Open Talk, Ready Player One: A Dive into Toronto’s Video Game Industry, on the importance of digital playing, and the ways in which video games root us in place and culture. Other panellists include Indigo Doyle (Independent Game Creator, Rollergirl), Bracy Appekumoh (Writer and Mixed Media Artist), and Brendan Lehman (Artistic Director, Hand Eye Society). The event is free, but spots are limited and registration is required.
15 YEARS SINCE UBISOFT LANDED IN TORONTO
Opening in 2010, Ubisoft Toronto was one of the first AAA-video game studios in Ontario. The studio’s teams, which include writers, artists, programmers, sound designers, casting specialists and so much more, have worked on some of Ubisoft’s biggest brands.
For 15 years, the studio has been committed to enriching the game development industry here through job creation, mentorship, and local community support. It runs Ubisoft Toronto NEXT and Develop at Ubisoft, programs that create pathways for students into the industry. Ubisoft Toronto also supports Hack the ROM and Interactive Ontario’s Indie Super Boost, as well as other industry initiatives like XP Game Summit.
