This year, Ubisoft Toronto is celebrating its 15th anniversary—a milestone that represents not just the passage of time, but a journey filled with creativity, collaboration, and community. That’s 15 years of building worlds, pushing creative boundaries, and growing a studio that’s as passionate about games as it is about making a difference locally, and beyond.
As we reflected on our journey, one thing became clear: this celebration wasn’t just about us. It was about the diverse city that’s supported us, inspired us, and grown alongside us: Toronto! That’s why, to truly honour this milestone, we decided to open our doors—literally. We invited the public inside our studio as part of Doors Open Toronto, welcoming over 7,000 members of the community to experience the imagination, history, and heart that defines not only Ubisoft Toronto, but Ubisoft as a whole.

Doors Open is an annual weekend-long celebration of architecture and public space, inviting the public to explore more than 150 sites through the lens of this year’s theme “Play.” Although we kept our production floors under wraps (gotta leave a little mystery, right?), visitors explored behind-the-scenes spaces like our gaming lounge, performance capture studio, and a physical exhibit highlighting Ubisoft Toronto’s achievements over past decade and a half.

15 years of big dreams and bold games
From the moment a small core team from Ubisoft Montreal crash-landed into a historic (former) Canadian General Electric factory in Toronto’s Junction Triangle neighbourhood, Ubisoft Toronto was set on an ambitious path. The goal? To open a brand-new studio while simultaneously leading development on Splinter Cell Blacklist. No biggie, right? And this bold beginning set the tone for everything that followed.
Since then, we’ve contributed to some of Ubisoft’s most iconic franchises, including FARCRY, Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six Siege, and Star Wars Outlaws. Along the way, we’ve also pushed ourselves with innovative projects and cutting-edge tech.
But what makes Ubisoft Toronto special isn’t just the games we create — it’s the people who bring them to life! For 15 years, we’ve pushed boundaries in storytelling and technology, crafted unforgettable worlds for players and strived to make a difference — both in-game and in real life. From every memorable game milestone to the countless studio events and charity fundraisers (yes, that includes the occasional chili cook-off showdown), it’s the people and our shared passion that’s shaped who we are today.
As we reflect on our achievements and look ahead to the future, we’re filled with gratitude for the incredible team members—past and present—who have shaped our story. Here’s to 15 years of innovation, imagination, and inspiration… and to many more to come.
