Interested in Technical Art? Meet Shaun Jennings, Technical Art Director on Far Cry 6!
In partnership with Interactive Ontario and the Black Youth Action Plan Hiring Fair, Jennings shares his own career journey, his best advice for emerging talent to break into the industry, and the most crucial skills for achieving success as a technical artist.
With over 15 years of experience in the games industry as well as a passion for working behind the scenes, problem solving, and the “mad scientist” side of production, he rose to the top by staying curious and open-minded.
According to Jennings, you don’t need to learn the most expensive programs to get your foot in the door. Instead, those interested in technical art should dedicate their time to building two core skills.
“Always build a foundation. You want to have a strong art or technical skill. Once you have one of those, then you can start working on the opposite, as your secondary,” says Jennings.
