Ubisoft Toronto NXT Showcase 2017 Apprenticeship Winners Announced
TORONTO – April 21, 2017 – Last night at the fourth annual competition in Toronto, the winners of the Ubisoft Toronto NXT Showcase 2017 were announced. Each year, interest in the program has grown and this year, 279 students from 20 different schools across Ontario competed for coveted apprenticeship awards in Model Art, Animation, and new for 2017, Programming, and Concept Art.
Ubisoft Toronto is proud to announce the following winners:
Rahim Rahimi (Seneca College) winner of the Model Art Apprenticeship
David Kolodko (George Brown College) winner of the Animation Apprenticeship
Steve Hong (OCAD University) winner of the Concept Art Apprenticeship
David Arppe (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) winner of the Programming Apprenticeship
The winning students will make the transition from student to game developer in the coming weeks as they will join the studio for three-month apprenticeships where they will work with some of the industry’s top talent creating AAA open world video games.

The Ubisoft Toronto NXT Showcase is an annual competition designed to showcase the talent of video game development students in Ontario and to help kick-start their careers in the industry by awarding apprenticeships to competition winners. A panel of Ubisoft Toronto team members served as judges for this year’s competition. The artwork from the finalists will remain on display at Ubisoft Toronto in the studio’s public gallery space.
