Production teams from Ubisoft Toronto showed off the highly anticipated Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 6, launching soon.

Ubisoft Forward, our first all-digital conference, gave audiences a glimpse into the hard work and talent of Ubisoft Toronto production teams, who are leading two titles that are sure to be fan favourites. In just a matter of months, players will join London’s DedSec resistance in Watch Dogs: Legion on October 29th, 2020, and liberate the tropical island of Yara in Far Cry 6 on February 18th, 2021.

Check out the highlights below.

Watch Dogs: Legion gets a release date

At E3 last year, creative director Clint Hocking unveiled the ambitious Watch Dogs: Legion, with its groundbreaking Play as Anyone mechanic that lets players recruit anyone they see in London onto their teams. Throughout Ubisoft Forward, audiences got the best look yet at what they can expect from the near-future setting when the game releases on October 29th, 2020.

What is Watch Dogs: Legion?

As London is on the brink of collapse, players will rebuild DedSec as a Resistance movement and fight back against the opportunists threatening to take over the city. With anyone in the open world available as a potential recruit, players can find out what people need, help them, and recruit them into the Resistance. Players have a Resistance cell of up to 20 operatives, and recruits come with unique abilities that range from street artists, hooligans, and construction workers to politicians, grandmas, and spies.

As a result of the delay from its original March 2020 release, the team had the chance to incorporate several design details that wouldn’t have been possible earlier. Curious about what we’ve pulled off? Clint Hocking shared with Ubisoft News what’s new, what’s different, and the changing role of permadeath in Watch Dogs: Legion.

Far Cry 6 announced

Leading up to Ubisoft Forward, fans caught a sneak peek of a new villain in the Far Cry universe. As the conference came to an end, however, there was one more reveal showcasing what makes this new entry unmissable.

Launching February 18th, 2021Far Cry 6 will transport players to the tropical island of Yara, where they will fight to free their homeland from the grasp of a brutal tyrant. Portrayed by the charismatic Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call SaulThe BoysThe Mandalorian), President Antón Castillo will do anything to hold on to power as he grooms his son Diego, played by Anthony Gonzalez (Coco), to succeed him. Players will have to use all the weapons, vehicles, and allies at their disposal to light the fires of revolution.

Ubisoft Toronto narrative director Navid Khavari shared insights on working with Giancarlo Esposito, discussed designing the first large-scale city in a Far Cry game, and how you can recruit an adorable wiener dog named Chorizo.

Celebrating together while apart

With our teams working from home, we found a different way to celebrate our creative achievements together. To help everyone feel a little more connected, we sent out special Ubisoft Toronto celebration kits and chatted online together as the world saw, for the first time, what many of us have spent years creating.

Congratulations to our teams who have worked so hard on both Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 6.

We can’t wait to share even more with fans soon.
