We love making games, but we know the process requires a ton of creative and financial resources. That’s why Ubisoft Toronto and National Bank want to make the process of what our industry does just a little bit easier with our Indie Series, ensuring Ontario continues to grow as a worldwide leader in game development.
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Ubisoft Indie Series, an annual competition for independent game development studios that offers mentorship, a suite of relevant tools and a cash prize to help local studios — and their games — reach new heights.
Who can apply?
Independent game development studios located in Ontario with fewer than 50 employees can compete to win a mentorship with Ubisoft Toronto and National Bank experts and $50,000 (CAD).
What are we looking for?
Our industry professionals look for games at the beginning of their production phase, particularly those founded on an original idea and created by a team that exhibits a new, exciting, and refreshing creative vision. Studios must be at least 50% Canadian-owned, located in Ontario, and their games must have received previous funding (love money, Canada Media Fund, crowdfunding, etc) to qualify for the Indie Series. As part of the application, interested parties will be required to provide a financial outline for their game production, as well as a breakdown of how their team or studio would allocate the $50,000 grand prize.
For full competition details, including rules, regulations and deadlines, visit toronto.ubisoft.com/indieseries.
Applications must be submitted before December 15, 2019, to be eligible.
In April 2020, up to 10 studios will be invited to pitch and demo their games before a jury comprised of Ubisoft and National Bank experts during the Ubisoft Indie Series Pitch Day. Winners will be announced at an awards event that night.
